“They’re meaty…oh, oh, they’re meaty…OH!”
I love this campaign. And it’s not just the carnivore in me talking. Go Meat is a site developed for Hillshire Farms (a subsidiary of Sara Lee). I came across it the other night while watching television. A commercial came on with two woman eating lunch, one woman shakes some meat chunks on her salad and the sounds of a chant come out of the package,
so the other woman picks up the package and shakes out the rest of the meat and the chant continues like a bunch of cheerleaders. It’s cute and playfully ironic. At the end of the commercial a website flashed across the the bottom of the screen so naturally I grabbed my laptop.
Honestly there’s not much to do at the site. There are a few sections like Special Offers, Products and Recipes (which, if you can’t figure out what to do with pre-prepared meat products then you’re, well, pathetic.) There’s also a section dedicated to the commercial spots which are all pretty darn good and worth checking out.
The campaign does justice to the brand which is where many agencies miss the mark in online ventures. But how is the site doing? Well, in the few months it’s been around it’s been able to garner a decent page rank (5). I can’t tell at this point if they did any PPC advertising but they have enough organic inlinks to warrant a high page rank. All without metadata.
The advertising agency responsible for this campaign is TBWA/Chiat/Day, who incidentally is the agency responsible for the iPhone campaign. Needless to say, they know what they’re doing.
By the way, just a point of interest, the domain gomeat.com used to be owned by PETA (look at the archive from 2004). Did they profit by selling it to Hillshire Farms? Hummmm.
