Viral marketing site for the Simpsons Movie and Burger King, Simpsonize Me, although currently down is sure to be an awesome addition to one of the best marketing campaigns I’ve seen in awhile. Including of course the transformation of a handful of 7-11’s across the country into Kwik-E-Marts, one of which in our fine town of NYC currently resides on 42nd Street. Apparently the site is experiencing too much traffic. Boo. They are unable to Simpsonizeme at this time.
I’m going to keep trying to access the site. If you get to it before me shoot me a line and send me your Simpsonized self.
UPDATE: The site is back up. Make sure that the photo you upload is fairly large and it would probably be best to crop out the background. You also may have to resubmit your image a few times, I kept getting an error “all slots are in use”, whatever that means.
You know what, this sucks. I’ve tried to upload my image 4 times now and I keep getting the “all slots are in use” error or as you can see in last screenshot below a terminal “loading” page. In my opinion they should have anticipated the amount of traffic the site would get and prepared plenty of bandwidth or “slots”.
UPDATE #2: I finally (sort of) got it working. I was able to Simpsonize myself but it was difficult to download the image. And impossible to email the image through the site. Ugh. Well, check me out…
